Introduction

Before you begin:

and/or

Welcome to our Bible study:

You are about to embark upon the most comprehensive study of the New Testament that has ever been contributed to our knowledge. This series of correspondence courses was compiled by Bernard E. Horsley, a country preacher from the state of Kentucky. In addition to spending a great deal of his life in developing this series of studies, Brother Horsley was able to acquire his pilot’s license and obtain an airplane that he and his wife Joy, used in their travels. It was a four place Cessna. He was an educator, having taught chemistry, science and math in the school system in Ohio.

Unfortunately, his efforts in developing these courses was cut short due to a major stroke suffered in the spring of 1997. However, before his illness, he was able to make available the courses you will find here on most of the New Testament. The courses he intended to complete, but was unable to finish, were the general epistles of 1st and 2nd Peter, 1st, 2nd and 3rd John, the Book of Jude and Revelation.

The completed courses were originally offered on cassette tape. Later, it became apparent that many of the students, being hearing impaired, and prisoners who were not allowed cassette tapes, would need the courses in written form. So, the manuscripts for recording the cassette tapes were also used to provide written courses, fulfilling this need.

Now, we have been able to convert the lessons to MP3 files suitable for internet and/or compact disc. These courses are as follows:

#1--“A Blending of the Four Gospel Records,” covering Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and consisting of 128 lessons;
#2--a course on “The Book of Acts,” consisting of 52 lessons;
#3--a course on “Paul’s Missionary Journey Epistles,” covering Romans, 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, consisting of 88 lessons;
#4--a course on “Paul’s Prison Epistles,” covering Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon--32 lessons;
#5--a course on “Paul’s Letters to Preachers,” covering 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus--28 lessons; #6--a course on “The Book of Hebrews,” 32 lessons;
and finally, #7--a course on “The Book of James”--16 Lessons.

All of the 7 courses, a total of 376 lessons, are now available on cassette tape, in written form, and mp3 files on compact disc. The MP3 files are also available on this web site. All of this, completely free of charge. No cost whatsoever to any student wishing to enroll.

Should you wish to enroll, we ask only the following: That you take the courses in the order that we have just mentioned, and that you forward to us your enrollment application (available on this web site). This will allow us to prepare your student record and mail to you the first series of test papers to be completed after each lesson.

After you have finished the initial test papers mailed to you, return them to us for grading. We will then return your graded test papers along with another set of test to be completed. After you have finished a course, complete the application for certificate furnished in the last set of test papers, and your Certificate of Completion, showing your test scores average, will be returned to you.

Let us know the format that you wish to use, either cassette tape, written material, MP3 files on compact disc (CD). Or if you wish, listen to the lessons on this site. And have a good study.
